The Long March for Unity and Justice

In response to the ongoing attacks and division in North Carolina, Forward Justice joined nearly 20 advocacy, civil rights and social justice organizations across issue areas for The Long March for Unity and Justice. From September 20-29, we marched from the mountains to the sea of this state to heal deep divisions, uplift issues in our communities, and mobilize voters so we can transform oppressive policies and systems. On this tour, we visited 11 cities and engaged nearly 1,100 people. Beloved Community Center previously led the nation’s first Truth and Reconciliation Process to disclose the truth related to the November 3, 1979, Greensboro Massacre. The Long March for Unity and Justice continues this reconciliation process on a state level, aiming to affirm truth and build grassroots leadership in a critical time for our state and the nation.
