Honoring the Life and Legacy of Nick Valvano

It is with an immensely heavy heart that we share about the passing of Nick Valvano. Nick’s impact on the V Foundation is immeasurable. His extraordinary leadership, dedication, and heart helped shape the Foundation and carry forward the vision of his brother, Jim Valvano.
Nick devoted much of his life to advancing the V Foundation’s mission to fund groundbreaking cancer research and accelerate Victory Over Cancer. As CEO from 1999 to 2012 and throughout his 33+ years of service as a member of the Board of Directors, Nick guided the Foundation through important milestones while ensuring Jim’s vision remained at the heart of our work.
To those who had the privilege of knowing him, Nick was far more than a leader. He was a friend, mentor, storyteller, and steadfast guardian of our mission. His wisdom, humility, compassion and perseverance left an enduring mark on the V Foundation and on the many people whose lives he touched.
Because of Nick’s vision and unwavering commitment, Jim’s dream not only endured, it flourished. The V Foundation celebrates Nick’s remarkable life and legacy with deep gratitude, knowing his impact will continue to inspire our work for generations to come.
Last year, he sat with our staff and told us what makes the V Foundation special. It’s the team. The people.
Our hearts are with the Valvano family.
