Two families celebrated a milestone years in the making Sunday as The Fuller Center for Housing of Martinsville-Henry County dedicated new homes for Stephanie Tarpley and Sharon Martin.
The celebration included a Bible presentation, ribbon-cutting and tours of the new homes, but the heart of the day was hearing from the women whose hard work helped make it possible.
“My family and I are blessed,” said Tarpley, who will share her home with her three nephews. “Having our own home means the world to me and my boys.”
Martin, who will share her home with her daughter, Serenity, reflected on the faith that sustained her throughout the journey, sharing Mark 11:24: “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
Executive Director Beth Stinnett has walked alongside both women over the past year and said it was special to see them “reach a milestone that they never thought was possible.”
Take a look at a few scenes from a joyful day celebrating two families, two new beginnings and two places to call home.
